Excessive Cleansing and Exfoliation

There are different skin care products available in market but not all are beneficial to your skin, at times skin care products and skin care activities can harm you more if misused or if used in excess.

Excessive cleansing strips the layer of the skin sebum and the skin may become dry, it may also lead to skin sensitivity and other problems.

Avoid cleansing with harsh detergents and also with alcohol based solutions. People who have an oily skin, alcohol based cleansers are handy for them but for those who have a normal skin it will have too much of a drying effect.

One should avoid cleaning and washing the face with hot water and also one should not wash the face more than two times a day.

Exfoliation is another common overused practice. Again, if exfoliation is used occasionally it might be useful as it refreshes the skin's surface, increases circulation and brightens the appearance.

You cannot deny that exfoliation can be potentially damaging exercise, you can time your destruction to strip off the top-layer (epidermis) of the skin cells, what exactly happens is that you remove one of the dead cells on the surface of the skin called stratum corneum.

However, it has been seen and experienced that when you try to exfoliate aggressively and too frequently you tend to damage the living cells too. This may lead to some serious problems like long term skin damage and also may effect the capacity of the skin to regenerate.
